I have done Arts & Crafts all my life and have always LOVED it!! I putter at making paper, carving & printing with lino blocks, making fountains, beading, carving with cedar, making shibori scarves and a host of other things that have always brought me great satisfaction. I have always been an artist and an artist I'll stay...happily! The really glorius thing about gourd art is that one can use almost any artistic medium on them, so I can roll all of my skills into one happy, fulfilling craft.
I find the natural aspect of the gourds very appealing. They have been used for centuries for all manner of things from containers for water & food to ceremonial items like masks and rattles. With a history going back thousands of years they played a very important role in everyday life around the globe.
Available gourds are shown at the top and will be available at the Ladner Village Market, Ladner, BC...once they're sold, they're gone!

I will have a few new gourds with me at each market...all good things take time! Each gourd, from start to finish takes many hours, some as many as 40, so mass production is neither possible NOR desired. Many times I have to gaze upon a gourd for a considerable time before I even decide what it will be :o) The wonder and beauty of Mother Nature's pottery is that each is very unique.
